Service Description
Prepare for complete mental, emotional, and physical relaxation with Yin Yoga. This 90 minute class will begin with a Yin Yoga practice led by Stephany Gholston, followed by a Yoga Nidra practice led by Brittany Loftus. Yin Yoga works deeply into our body with passive, longer-held poses. It targets the deep, connective tissues - ligaments, joints, and the deep fascia networks of the body. This practice consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that are held for up to five minutes. This style of yoga increases circulation and improves flexibility, joint mobility, reduces stress and anxiety, and will encourage deeper relaxation for Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra, often translated as "Yogic Sleep" is deep relaxation with inner awareness. Our Yin Yoga practice will prepare the body to lie comfortably on our backs for 45 minutes. While in savasana you will be guided through the practice of Yoga Nidra. Class is suitable for all-levels of practitioners. However, Yoga Nidra is not suitable for those with severe mental illness or for those processing recent trauma. You are encouraged to bring items that will aid in your comfort for lying down for an extended period. Blankets, a bolster, a pillow, and an eye pillow or scarf is recommended.
